Advanced Dermatology & Skin Cancer

skin cancer and lesion care

We are proud of our reputation for being the preeminent skin cancer and lesion care specialists in the area. The majority of procedures can comfortably be done in the office for the patient’s convenience. Lesions, or what patients commonly refer to as moles, are generally grouped in three categories.

The first, or benign, are usually determined upon clinical examination. For those lesions whose diagnosis is uncertain an incisional or excisional biopsy may be necessary.

The second, or pre-malignant, are lesions which given time may become malignant. Some pre-malignant lesions can even be treated without surgery with our photo dynamic therapy unit.

Finally, malignant lesions generally fall into three types, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma.

We highly recommend checking your skin at least yearly to check for suspicious lesions or moles. We follow the ABCDE’s of skin cancer awareness adopted by the American Cancer Society.

ABCDE’s of skin cancer awareness are:

  • Asymmetry
  • Border
  • Color
  • Diameter
  • Evolving

You may take the guesswork out of this by scheduling a skin check in our office with one of our skin cancer specialists or for further information just click on www.skincancer.org.

No referral is ever necessary unless required by your insurance and we currently accept most insurances.

Most doctors’ offices treat me as a patient which is OK I but here I believe I am treated as a friend too. Each time I see Whitney I feel she is interested in me and not just my problem. She always takes the time to personally walk me to the front desk as I am leaving.
